Commercial Account Handler – competitive salary dependent on skills and experience

C&M Insurance was founded in 1993 and is a small, independent, local insurance brokers in Essex. We have a reputation for offering an informed and professional service to our clients.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Commercial Account Handler, with excellent customer service skills, to help expand the commercial business and service an existing client base. The role is offered full-time, working office hours from Monday to Friday, and is based at our offices in Gidea Park, Romford.

The successful candidate will be responsible for arranging insurance policies for new and existing customers, and generating revenue by servicing accounts and managing existing client relationships. The Account Handler will be responsible for a wide range of insurances including Motor Trade Combined, Fleet, Property Owners, Construction and Liability, and it is therefore essential that you can prove your knowledge and experience in these areas.

The successful candidate must have commercial insurance experience gained within the insurance industry in a similar Commercial Account Handling role, preferably for a broker (candidates with only claims experience will not be accepted. Underwriters may be considered, dependent on experience).

In order to apply for this role you must have experience of dealing with commercial insurance clients and undertaking duties including:

  • Renewals (including re-broking and negotiations with insurers, where appropriate)
  • Mid-term adjustments
  • Up and cross selling new business
  • Claims handling

This role requires a candidate who is highly motivated with the ability to work to high business standards and organise and prioritise a busy workload to meet agreed deadlines. You will have the ability to work to a high level of accuracy through maintaining your own records, and work within FCA guidelines at all times to ensure high standards of compliance. You must have exceptional customer service skills and the ability to develop customer relationships and communicate effectively with a range of different clients over the telephone, face to face and in writing. In addition it is desirable that you have practical experience of using the SSP system, as well as being a confident IT user of Microsoft applications.
